Working at the Institut-domi

Being a student

the Institut-domi at a glance

Active in the field of distance learning for over 50 years, the takeover of the Institut-domi by the Lémania group has led to significant development. The Institut-domi has been able to adapt and anticipate the needs of its customers through a variety of tested methodologies. One of the key factors in its longevity is its ability to anticipate.

1968

Colette Solesio, founder of the Institut-domi, created a revolutionary concept that would change traditional learning forever: allowing students who couldn’t attend school to study from home with the help of instructors. The trainers correct the students’ homework and send it to them by post.

2008

A turning point has been reached thanks to IT in the service of education. Everything became simpler and faster. This change led to the creation of the first dynamic learning platform. Specific e-learning tools were developed.

2019

After more than 6 years of research, the e-domi platform became the centerpiece of the new version of our methodology. As a result, the Institut-domi is fast becoming the benchmark for Swiss Maturité distance learning.

2020

A number of in-depth improvements are undertaken to make this methodological support even more effective. The result meets expectations, and the company’s leadership status is strengthened. This legitimacy is further enhanced by the fact that the very good results of the Swiss maturity (between 85% and 95%) are the result of the avant-garde vision of the management and the knowledge of the trainers.

2022

Institut-domi expands and hires an apprentice mediamatician to manage development and perfect its methodological support. Other trainers also join the ranks. 70 students place their trust in the Institut-domi and complete their training after a course lasting between 2 and 3 years.

2024

Almost 5 years after the introduction of e-domi, this painstaking work continues to bear fruit. Once the mediamatician has been hired, a second apprentice is taken on at the Institut-domi to meet growing demand and to develop the methodological platform. Supervised by the management team, they also help the trainers to expand, perfect and structure the methodological curriculum. Everything is becoming more fluid through AI, which will enable trainers to develop their theory by adding a dynamic system for intuitive learning and better anchoring. This is a major turning point, as everything will accelerate to enable our school to remain at the top of the distance learning market.

While learners must not forget that distance learning requires constant rigor and self-motivation, they can count on a competent teaching staff to keep them on track. That’s why the human aspect, alongside AI, must remain a reassuring and caring presence, even in the midst of growth. All our trainers have a mastery of their subject, complemented by a pedagogical fibre in the transmission of their knowledge.

It is through all these points that our leitmotiv is achieved: A student who feels at ease both with his internet methodology and with his teacher is a student who succeeds!

Being a student at the Institut-domi

All courses are run on a tailor-made e-learning platform (e-domi). The Institut-domi offers its courses entirely by distance learning. Students manage their timetable and progress autonomously, under the watchful eye of the instructors. The aim is to adapt to students’ availability and needs.

An e-learning platform has been developed in-house, containing all the theory broken down by module. Equipped with a console, it enables learners to monitor their progress and grades. Each branch is managed by teachers with at least a master’s degree in their field. They monitor students’ progress, answer their questions and correct their exercises.

Swiss maturity

The Swiss Matura preparation course at the Institut-domi is available in two variants.

The first takes three years, the second two. The choice depends on the number of hours the learner can devote to his or her studies. If he can allocate 20 hours/week. The first option is preferred. At 25 hours/week, two years of apprenticeship will suffice.

Shortly before the exams, face-to-face revision sessions are scheduled.

The exams are organized by the SEFRI and are totally independent of the Institut-domi. Exercises are graded throughout the course, but only the results of the final exam count towards the Matura diploma. This makes it all the more important to be committed to one’s studies, since not only are grades only indicative, but there is no such thing as “double compensations”. Everything comes down to an exam.

Accounting diploma

Training to become an accountant takes an average of 18 months. The first three months are devoted to economics, Swiss law and business arithmetic. The following three months cover all aspects of accounting and its various approaches. A complete module is dedicated to the Crésus software. The Institut-domi has designed this diploma from the ground up to ensure that you are completely at ease. The final exam has been created with the help of a university professor, a chartered accountant and a specific trainer.

Assignments are graded throughout the course, but only the results of the final exam count towards the diploma. The exam can be taken 2 times. Exam dates can be agreed with the learner at any time during the year.

First of all, there’s a mock test with what you’ve learned, from which you ask additional questions if necessary. Then you and your teacher set the date for the final exam. When you pass, you receive your accountancy diploma.

You can take 21 months, for a slower pace, and to anchor your knowledge more permanently.
